This was our 3rd annual Memorial Day week trip down the John Day River in central Oregon.  This was Phoebe’s first big river trip and her mom and dad’s first trip down the John Day.  The water was high this year, we almost didn’t go.

Amy’s parents almost made the trip with us, but woke up morning before launch soaking wet and cold.  Next time we will be a bit more explicit about gear preparation.  With all of the glorious photos shared after a raft trip, it’s easy to be fooled into thinking it’s a warm casual float between points of luxury accommodations.  Extended whitewater rafting requires lots of gear...cool!
