River Log
River Log
2005
Haven't been out in the kayak for months. It was great to get out on this sunny day and explore a new river I have not been on. Put in had a bunch of rotting, stinking salmon being eaten by thousands of maggots which was cool. :-)
This is a great run for surfing, not much in the way of holes. Plenty of boulder gardens. There is one big surf wave with a big eddy for re-entry about half way through this 3 hour run.
Lots of maple trees (hence name Maple Valley) and you don't see many houses or roads. It's a very peaceful run, highly recommended for the Seattle lurkers looking for a change of scenery. Apparently, this run isn't open for long due to the dam control so get it while it's up!
